Cooper CS4 Touring Tire Type

The Cooper CS4 Touring is an all-season tire made for a wide range of passenger vehicles. While it’s mostly marketed to luxury coupes and sedans, it can be used by SUVs and minivans, too.

One of the primary characteristics of the Cooper CS4 Touring is its all-season make. This means that it can be used in dry, wet, and snowy conditions.

This is the first tire that uses Cooper’s Response Technology (R-Tech). This enhances steering response and traction, regardless of the weather. Dry traction is improved even more through R-Tech.

Moreover, the Cooper CS4 Touring uses a 5-ribbed tapered circumferential design that removes water to prevent hydroplaning.

Is the Cooper CS4 Touring Good for Rain and Snow?

While the design of the Cooper CS4 Touring greatly improves grip on wet roads, this tire is not made for thick snow. At most, it can drive on light snow.

Even if the Cooper CS4 Touring claims to be an all-season tire, take note that it is still not a winter tire. It can’t be used as an alternative to robust winter tires.

Nevertheless, if you live in an area with light snow, the Cooper CS4 Touring is a good option. Keep in mind, though, that some users say that, once the tread wears out, the grip decreases significantly.

On the other hand, if you’re planning to use the Cooper CS4 Touring on wet roads, you won’t have a problem with hydroplaning (but still be cautious!) because of the tread design.

Is the Cooper CS4 Touring Good for Dry Weather?

The Cooper CS4 excels on dry roads – a much better performance compared to wet roads.

The feature that makes this possible is the nylon wraps that adjust to the road temperature. If the road is hot, the nylon wraps become more rigid. In turn, this makes the tire steadier and stronger.

What’s more, the Cooper CS4 provides a smooth ride. Numerous users attest to its comfortable performance, especially when you’re well within the warranty (in miles).

Is the Cooper CS4 Touring Quiet?

Unfortunately, the tire’s noise is an area where the Cooper CS4 Touring needs more improvement.

In the first thousand miles, the tires are very quiet and smooth, regardless of day-to-day use on dry and wet roads. But when it reaches about 20,000 miles, it starts to have a low hum.

Some complain that the noise becomes quite disturbing. Others say that the noise doesn’t bother them.

Price

For its performance and all-season type, the Cooper CS4 Touring is considered an affordable tire, with a starting price below $100.

This tire is a great value-for-money option for price-sensitive car owners.

Warranty and Lifespan

The Cooper CS4 Touring has a warranty of 60,000 miles.

This is one of the longest distances when it comes to tire warranty. While this is impressive, several users have complained that the tire’s lifespan is much shorter than this – at around half the miles.

Should You Get the Cooper CS4 Touring?

For an affordable, all-season tire, the Cooper CS4 Touring is a good enough choice. It has good traction in dry and wet weather, and it uses R-Tech which improves overall comfort and grip.

But of course, it comes with its downsides, too.

It’s up to you to decide whether the pros outweigh the cons or vice versa.
