The Continental ContiEcoContact is popular for being a fuel-efficient, grand touring summer tire.

Since it’s a summer tire, how does it fare in other seasons? Let’s find out.

Is the Continental ContiEcoContact EP Good for Rain and Snow?

The Continental ContiEcoContact EP is equipped with wide circumferential grooves combined with independent tread blocks that assist with water evacuation. This improves hydroplaning resistance and increases wet traction.

You can also expect shorter braking distance, better maneuvering, and improved stability.

So, yes, it’s a great tire to use when driving in wet or rainy conditions.

However, the Continental ContiEcoContact EP is not the best tire to drive in snow or ice.

Like all summer tires, the ContiEcoContact EP is equipped with a summer compound that’s made to withstand hot temperatures — not freezing climates.

If you use the Continental ContiEcoContact EP in near-freezing temperatures, you can expect cracking or hardening of the tire walls.

In this case, it will be better to go for the Continental ContiWinterContact TS800

Is the Continental ContiEcoContact EP Good for Dry Weather?

Dry, summer climates are what the Continental ContiEcoContact EP thrives in.

Equipped with a silica-enhanced compound that’s supported by an asymmetric tread pattern and solid tread blocks, this tire provides confident handling and exceptional dry traction.

You can’t go wrong with this tire in the summer.

Is the Continental ContiEcoContact EP Quiet?

Inside the Continental ContiEcoContact EP are twin steel belts that add to the overall durability and strength of the tire. Reinforced with a polyester casing, this tire promotes consistent and comfortable ride quality.

Additionally, it has a continuous center rib that provides constant rubber-to-road contact for a smoother, noiseless ride.

Which Vehicles Fit the Continental ContiEcoContact EP?

The Continental ContiEcoContact EP is used as original equipment on the Smart Fortwo 2004 to 2006 models. This tire is also compatible with several other car brands and models, including (but not limited to):

  • Chrysler Pacifica
  • Fiat Panda, 500
  • Ford Focus, Fiesta
  • Honda Pilot, Accord, Civic
  • Nissan Altima
  • Saturn Outlook
  • Toyota Yaris, Prius
  • Volkswagen Beetle, Touareg
  • Volvo V40

If you can’t find your car brand or model on this list you can ask your tire dealer about your car’s compatibility with the Continental ContiEcoContact EP. Or, you can check out the available tire sizes.

Continental ContiEcoContact EP Tire Sizes

Unfortunately, the Continental ContiEcoContact EP is only available in one size. This is probably its biggest disadvantage as it won’t fit in as many cars.

15” Continental ContiEcoContact EP Tire Sizes

P145/65R15 72T BLK

This tire size can carry up to 783 lbs (or 355 kg) of weight on each tire and has a speed rating of 118 mph (or 190 kph).

P175/55R15 77T BLK

This tire size can carry up to 908 lbs (or 412 kg) of weight on each tire and has a speed rating of 118 mph (or 190 kph).

Continental ContiEcoContact EP Price

You can get the Continental ContiEcoContact EP for as little as $100 to $110, depending on where you buy them.

As you can see, it is a very affordable tire. And with the excellent dry and wet traction, that is already an excellent deal.

If you want to get it for even cheaper, there are places that offer discount prices, coupons, and special offers. Websites such as Tirerack.com can offer this for you.

Continental ContiEcoContact EP Warranty

One downside to the Continental ContiEcoContact EP is that it offers a limited tread life warranty. It doesn’t help that Continental doesn’t disclose this number to their customers, so you’re left wondering when your tires will eventually give out.

On the bright side, you do get a tire uniformity guarantee for a year, which is applied to the first 2/32 inches of wear on your tires.

You also get a 6-year manufacturer and materials warranty. This includes one FREE replacement during your first year of ownership.

What’s more, clients get a 30-day customer satisfaction guarantee. With this, you can request to change your tires if you feel like its features didn’t meet your expectations.

So maybe the limited tread life warranty isn’t so bad after all.

NOTE: Getting your tires repaired or altered for any reason voids any existing Continental warranties and guarantees.

Should You Get the Continental ContiEcoContact EP?

The Continental ContiEcoContact EP is undoubtedly a quality tire that can be bought at a great price. However, it doesn’t come with a lot of size choices — neither does it come with a long tread life.

So if you’re going to buy this tire, make sure that your vehicle is compatible with the available sizes. Furthermore, make sure that you’re fine with its limited tread life.

That said, it does come with some other great warranties.

It also pays to keep in mind that this tire is not made for driving on snow or ice. But if you plan on driving in warm or rainy seasons, then you can’t go wrong with the Continental ContiEcoContact EP.

So is this the tire for YOU?

This complete Continental ContiEcoContact EP review will help you answer that.
