Continental 4×4 SportContact Tire Type

The Continental 4×4 SportContact is a performance tire specifically made for street and sports trucks.

It’s made to be used on both dry and wet roads — but not so much on snowy roads.

If you’re looking for an all-season tire for your truck, the Continental 4×4 SportContact isn’t it.

It’s not made for snow. And even if the snow is light, you will notice some loss of traction.

However, the Continental 4×4 SportContact is an excellent choice for dry and wet roads. This is thanks to the asymmetrical tread patterns and the wide circumferential grooves.

To add to that, this tire packs a smooth ride because of its responsive steering and effortless cornering.

Take note, though, that this is best used for city driving. The Continental 4×4 SportContact is not an off-road tire.

Is the Continental 4×4 SportContact Good for Rain and Snow?

As we saw, the Continental 4×4 SportContact is a good choice for wet roads, but not ideal on snow.

Why?

It’s because the tires’ ridge design is not equipped for snow.

For wet surfaces, on the other hand, the Continental 4×4 SportContact has features that prevent hydroplaning.

So even if there are a few inches of water, the tread design coupled with the lateral grooves removes the water — enabling better grip and traction.

Is the Continental 4×4 SportContact Good for Dry Weather?

The Continental 4×4 SportContact excels in the dry season.

When driving on streets, you’ll notice the significant smoothness and grip that it has compared to other performance tires.

The best part?

It’s suitable for high-speed road use.

What’s a sports truck without going to high speeds every now and then?

Moreover, these tires reduce rolling resistance. In turn, you can save on fuel and cut CO2 emissions.

How awesome is that?

Is the Continental 4×4 SportContact Quiet?

The Continental 4×4 SportContact provides a quiet ride whether you drive it under wet or dry road conditions.

Its noise level is barely there even if you turn your radio off.

However, it’s important to note that, over time, you might start noticing some noises.

Which Vehicles Fit the Continental 4×4 SportContact?

The Continental 4×4 SportContact is specifically made for light trucks – street or sport.

It’s not necessarily made for vehicles that you’d bring off-road, since it’s more of a performance tire.

To give you an idea, here are some vehicles that can fit the Continental 4×4 SportContact:

  • Audi Q7
  • BMW X5
  • Land Rover Range Rover
  • Mercedes-Benz ML350, GL320, Ml500
  • Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne S
  • Volkswagen Touareg, R5 TDI
  • Volvo XC60

Of course, this isn’t an extensive list.

And don’t fret if your vehicle isn’t here.

Instead, you can check out the tire sizes and see if it fits YOUR vehicle.

Sizes

Unfortunately, the Continental 4×4 SportCOntact has limited sizes.

In fact, it only has three available sizes – 18”, 19”, and 20”.

18” Continental 4×4 SportContact Tire Sizes

  • 255/55R18

19” Continental 4×4 SportContact Tire Sizes

  • 275/45R19

20” Continental 4×4 SportContact Tire Sizes

Price

The Continental 4×4 SportContact starts at $250-$300, which is just in the middle of the prices for performance tires.

Some say that the price is totally worth it.

Others complain that it’s too pricey.

But that’s up to you to decide what side you’re on.

Warranty and Lifespan

The Continental 4×4 SportContact comes with a 6-year warranty. Continental also gives a FREE replacement in your first year if the wear is only 2/32 of an inch.

As for the lifespan, some drivers have ridden this tire for 50,000 km while some have for 10,000 km before seeing signs of wear.

There are many factors that affect how long a tire will last.

However, for the Continental 4×4 SportContact, there are surprisingly a lot of reviews saying that it’s not the most durable performance tire.

Should You Get the Continental 4×4 SportContact?

If you’re looking for a smooth cornering tire that performs well on dry and wet roads, the Continental 4×4 SportContact gives an impressive performance.

It’s ideal for careful drivers that primarily drive in the city.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for value for money, snow traction, and off-road performance, the Continental 4×4 SportContact may not be a good fit.

If you’re looking for a snow tire, then you can check out the Continental WinterContact TS 850 P

Overall, the Continental 4×4 is a good enough tire.

Not the best — but it performs as it promises.

So should you get these tires?

It’s up to YOU.
