Falken Azenis FK453 Review for 2023

When the Falken Azenis FK453 tires were first launched in June 2012, they were pretty unimpressive.

For many previous owners, they weren’t good value for money. They were lacking in almost every aspect and not very memorable. Plus, they were marketed as high-performance tires but weren’t exactly for confident or spirited drivers.

A few years after its first release, though, Falken made changes in the manufacturing process in response to customer feedback. The quality and performance of the FK453s improved substantially, and it became well-loved by both everyday commuters and performance car enthusiasts.

Today, we will share with you our Falken Azenis FK453 review for 2023.

If you bought a set of these tires when they were newly launched, you might want to read this article to know about the new and improved FK453s.

Now, let’s look at each aspect in detail.

Falken Azenis FK453 Tire Type

The Falken Azenis FK453 is an ultra-high performance summer tire designed for sports cars, coupes, premium sedans, and sporty trucks.

It is best used in the summer as well as during the wet season.

Is the Falken Azenis FK453 Good for Rain and Snow?

The Falken Azenis FK453 performs well in the rain, but the traction on wet pavement isn’t as good as it is on dry. Nevertheless, the braking distance is still admirably short in comparison to its predecessor, the FK452.

It has wide grooves that reduce the risk of aquaplaning and sipes that help improve wet handling. The circumferential grooves also inspire confidence on wet roads.

The Falken Azenis FK453 is by no means intended for snow. We strongly suggest that you refrain from using a set of these tires during winter, even on mild snow, as it may affect the tires’ performance.

If you own a set of FK453s, you will need to swap your tires during winter.

Is the Falken Azenis FK453 Good for Dry Weather?

The Falken Azenis FK453 provides outstanding performance in dry weather.

Its silica-enriched compound allows for confident dry grip and traction. Its fairly stiff outer walls increase cornering stability, even at high speeds. The FK453 is also highly responsive.

One thing that may not suit everyone’s taste is the tread design. For an ultra-high performance tire, the Falken Azenis FK453 may not look sporty enough. But then again, it depends on your style preference.

Is the Falken Azenis FK453 Quiet?

The Falken Azenis FK453 is nearly silent, especially when new.

It has a noise-absorption technology that allows it to reduce road noise to about a third of what its competitors typically produce.

Noise is excellent, but expect a little decline when the tire wears.

Falken Azenis FK453 Price

The Falken Azenis FK453 costs a little under $100 each, depending on the size.

Falken Azenis FK453 Warranty and Lifespan

The Falken Azenis FK453 has no mileage tread life warranty.

Instead, it has a 30-day guarantee and a uniformity warranty during the first 1/32 inch of tire wear. It also comes with a lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship.

The Falken Azenis FK453’s major pitfall is its poor tread life and uneven tread wear.

Some owners report a lifespan of 12,000 miles or even less. Based on several customer reviews, the rear tires wear out much faster than the front and usually go bald after 10,000 miles.

Conclusion: Should You Get the Falken Azenis FK453?

Overall, we think the new and improved Falken Azenis FK453 is commendable. With its excellent dry and wet traction, it can be suitable for both commuter and performance cars. Also, despite not being exceedingly comfortable, the tire at least allows quiet rides.

The only major downside of the FK453 is its poor tread life. However, if you don’t mind changing your tires every two years, or perhaps more frequently depending on use, then you might like this tire.

The FK453 isn’t expensive anyway, so you get what you pay for.

As mentioned above, this tire is already discontinued, but if you find it in the market, we’d say it’s still worth considering. However, if you’re looking for tires with more advanced technology, we suggest you take a look at the FK453’s successor, which is the FK510.
